Many countries adopt causes or a special interest group to promote during a calendar month...The United States is particularly prolific at creating "national month" events to promote business interests.

Clearly, someone in power must have a sense of humor as is evidenced by February being "Return Shopping Carts to the Supermarket Month" and "Spunky Old Broads" month.  But savvy business owner should take note of many celebrations involving heritage, disease awareness, and product promotions.  Home based craft businesses can look for ways to celebrate February as National Craft Month.
